Is professional mattress cleaning and sanitising worth it?The best way to keep your mattress in tip-top condition is through regular deep cleaning and sanitising. It's the only way to ensure you are sleeping on a healthy mattress and the HYGIENITECH® process is your best option when it comes to effectively removing dust mites, faecal droppings, dead skin cells, mould and mildew, fungal spores, bacteria, viruses including COVD-19, human sweat and other bodily fluids, pet dander and other debris from your mattress.
-
What happens if I never clean and sanitise my mattress? You are likely to be exposing yourself to an array of allergens, bacteria and other micro-organisms that can potentially make you sick, cause rashes and trigger symptoms of allergies and asthma.
-
Will the HYGIENITECH process be messy? The HYGIENITECH® process is completely green and environmentally friendly. There are no liquids or nasty chemicals used in the sanitisation process and beds can be remade in as little as 10 minutes after the service has been completed. Since there are no chemicals or perfumes involved, it is not necessary to air out the room.
-
Is the HYGIENITECH process safe to use around children?Absolutely. Since there are no chemicals used during the HYGIENITECH® process, there is nothing to harm infants or children in any way. Infact, we recommend that the system be used on cribs, cot mattresses and soft toys.
-
What is UV-C light?UV-C is a powerful, highly concentrated form of light in the Ultra Violet spectrum that is classified as Germicidal. The light destroys dust mites and their eggs by literally breaking apart the DNA of all micro-organisms. UV-C light also eliminates germs, bacteria, mold, mildew and fungal spores, common viruses and harmful allegens, including Anthrax, H1N1(Swine Flue), Bird Flue, Covid-19 and other potentially dangerous environmental hazards. UV-C light is not harmful to humans and is widely used to purify water, sterilise medical instruments and where ever a germ free environment is required.
-
What has to be done to prepare for servicing a mattress?Simply remove the linen and any mattress covers that may be present.
-
Are dust mites seasonal or are they found throughout the year? There is no high season for dust mites, these pesky little critters are around all year long. The amount of mite allergen fluctuates through the year, depending on the season. The growth conditions for dust mites is ideal in Spring because they like 25 degrees Celsius and high humidity of around 75 per cent. The hotter and more humid the weather the better, but our homes provide the perfect environment for them to thrive all year round especially in Winter when your house is all shut up.
-
How often should I deep clean and sanitise my mattress?Over time a mattress can become infested with over 10 million dust mites releasing 40 million faecal droppings which can seriously impact your health and sleep. We recommend you should have your mattress cleaned and sanitised every season and for those with allergies should opt for a more frequent schedule to avoid triggering health problems.
-
How long does it take to deep clean and sanitised my mattress? This depends on the size of the mattress. A single size mattress usually take about 15 to 20 minutes and a king size mattress about 25 to 30 minutes.
-
How do I know if my mattress needs deep cleaning and sanitising? We have developed a 3-5 minute testing procedure that will clearly show the level of contamination in your mattress. The contamination test is free of charge with no obligation on your part.
-
Do protective mattress covers work? There have been studies to show them not to work effectively. From our experience when ever we have tested a mattress with a protective cover, the mattress has always tested positive for contamination. If you are planning to protect your mattress with a protective cover make sure you have the mattress professionally cleaned and sanitised by HYGIENITECH® first, if you dont all you are doing is incubating the contaminants that are already there.
-
Why can't I just vacuum the mattress myself?Traditional household and commercial vacuums dont have the extraction power to remove highly resilient dust mites, bacteria and allergy triggering contaminants that are deeply embedded in your mattress. The HYGIENITECH® system with its all important germ killing UV-C Germicidal light, is key to effective disinfection and sterilisation. In addition, most household vacuums are primarily designed for use on carpets and therefore the stiff bristles embedded into the rotary brush may damage the surface of the mattress.
-
Do I have to wait until my mattress is dry before I can use it?No, this is a completely dry procedure requiring no drying time. This means you can apply your freshly washed linen to the mattress almost immediatly after the cleaning and sanitsing process has been completed. Using a completely dry procedure also means that both top and bottom of the mattress can be cleaned and sanitised unlike the steam (hot water extraction) method due to complete saturation of the mattress.
-
My mattress is new does it need deep cleaning and sanitising? We have found that a new mattress if used on a regular basis, would benefit from deep cleaning and sanitising after as little as 6 months.
-
Can an old mattress be deep cleaned and sanitised effectively?Yes, most definitely, mattresses that are old contain higher levels of contamination but our process is extremely effective and will make the mattress clean and fresh again.
-
Do my pillows need servicing?Yes, there are millions of dust mites in your pillows, but there are way more dead dust mites and faecal matter. That's right, you are resting your head on invisible poop that you are inhaling when you breathe which can cause coughing, sneezing and other respiratory conditions.
